Carroll Alan (Butch) Hernley passed away on April 6th, 2012 to be with his father and mother on their anniversary at his home in Carmel. Butch was born on April 3rd, 1949 in Union City, Indiana to William Leonard & Wanda Esther Hernley. He graduated from Pennville High School in 1967 where he played on the Bulldogs basketball team. He also had a band while in high school known as the “Bygones” and was very proud of their accomplishments. He graduated from Ball State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree. While at Ball State he was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, where he met many long lasting friends. He had a very successful career in Medical Sales.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Karol Kiley, two sisters, Vickie Cumings of Muncie, Indiana, Rebecca Brown (Greg) of Burleson, Texas. Two nephews, Bryhan Cumings of Anderson, Indiana, Matt Cumings of Cincinnati, Ohio. Three nieces, Kristi Kaye (Shane) Anderson and their two children, Rebakah Rose and Ross Alan of Warren, Indiana; and Angela Jo (Mike) Roberts and their two children, Allie Nicole and Logan Michael of Muncie, Indiana; and Kimberley Lynn (Justin) Jellison and their two children with another on the way, Austin Michael, Dillon Ray and Luke Ryan yet to make his appearance. Several cousins, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard & Wanda Hernley, one brother, Terry Wayne, grandparents, Archie & Flossie Likens, Bill Hernley and one nephew, Greg Alan.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 28th at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care. Visitation will be from 2-3, with service at 3:00 pm directed by long time friend of the family Rusty Clements. Memorials may be directed to Pennville Alumni Association in care of Sue Ann McLaughlin, 2575 W 50 N, Portland, Indiana, 47371.
